Mannitol (E 421) (intravenous)

Fructose polyalcohol. Oral mannitol has an absorbance of 25–65%. In the liver, 7–10% of absorbed mannitol can be transformed into fructose or oxidised to CO2 by unknown pathways [5, 23, 24].
