Dynamics of pain in FOP. Pain levels in FOP patients were quantified at two time points approximately 2–3 weeks apart (N = 15). Patients 4 and 15 were lost to follow-up. In some patients, pain levels were constant between the two assessments, while for others, there were increases or decreases in self-reported pain intensity. Median self-reported pain intensities were 3 and 4 for fNIRS and clinical questionnaire sessions, respectively
