Definition

Blood eosinophilia

Eosinophil count between 0.5 and 1.5 × 109/L eosinophils

Hypereosinophilia (HE)

Eosinophil count > 1.5 × 109/L on two occasions one month apart and/or tissue eosinophilia (as defined in “Definition of HES-related organ involvement” section)

Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES)

Blood HE AND

Organ damage or dysfunction caused by tissue eosinophils (as defined in “Definition of HES-related organ involvement” Section), AND

Exclusion of other possible causes of organ dysfunction

HES/organ-specific eosinophilic disease

Blood and/or tissue eosinophilia AND

Single-organ/tract involvement
